If you have a curious mind and like to work in a fast paced, innovative environment, this is a fantastic opportunity to join us as a Customer Due Diligence Analyst. You’ll work diligently and efficiently to protect our customers and the organisation from economic crime
This is an opportunity to join a supportive team where we’ll also take a real investment in your career development
What you'll do
In this role within the Customer Due Diligence function, you will primarily focus on the Mettle proposition, supporting Boxed banking-as-a-service processes as needed. As a key part of our first line of defence against economic crime, you will ensure regulatory obligations are met, conduct efficient account reviews, and risk assess customers using various sources to confirm they meet our risk appetite.
You’ll be responsible for:

- Identifying and mitigating economic crime risks, escalating effectively when needed to protect both our customers and Mettle
- Operating diligently within NatWest Group policies and NatWest Boxed established processes, ensuring compliance and consistency
- Constantly seeking opportunities to enhance our processes for greater effectiveness and efficiency, helping us scale and improve
- Reviewing Know Your Customer (KYC) / Know Your Business (KYB) check reports and application data to prevent application fraud and truly understand the nature and purpose of the account
- Reviewing name screening hits for Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), Sanctions, and Adverse Press. This involves escalating true matches or making well-rationalised discounting decisions
- Investigating application fraud and other economic crime-related alerts from internal and external databases, like the Untoward Incident Database (UID) and Cifas
- Contacting customers, managing your chats within our Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and communicating clearly and concisely, always embodying Mettle's supportive tone of voice

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
