Customer Engineer, Public Sector UK/I, GCP

Senior Platform Customer Engineer – Public Sector

Location Options: London, UK | Manchester, UK

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must have 6 years of relevant experience and meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Experience with:
    • Cloud engineering
    • On-premise engineering
    • Virtualization
    • Containerization platforms
  • Ability to engage with technical stakeholders or executive leaders.
  • Current UCAS (formerly SC) UK security clearance, or ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will hold additional experience in:

  • Selling technical solutions in any of the following:
    • Infrastructure modernization
    • Application modernization
    • Data management
    • Data analytics
    • Cloud AI
    • Networking
    • Migrations
    • Security solutions
  • Driving full sales cycles, including defining and transitioning delivery and consumption plans for execution.
  • Building long-term technical strategies to uncover new workloads for customers.
  • Experience with migrating applications and services to cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of security concepts, such as:
    • Encryption
    • Identity management
    • Access control
    • Attack vectors
    • Penetration testing

As a Platform Customer Engineer (CE) in the public sector team, you’ll collaborate closely with sales and technical stakeholders to offer Google Cloud as the ideal solution for complex business challenges. You’ll act as the trusted technical partner, guiding customers through strategic decisions with expertise in:

  • Technical discussions aligned with business needs
  • Solution architecture and roadmap planning
  • Persuasive, customer-informed pitches

Your role is to lead technical wins, driving new business expansion and penetrating existing client accounts. With expertise in infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data analytics, and AI, you’ll blend sales acumen and technical mastery to position our solutions as the premier choice for modernizing public sector technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Account Ownership: Shape and execute technical account plans, aligning them with sales motions geared at targeted public sector clients.
  • Solutions Architecture & Demo Crafting: Combine sales engineering, technical expertise, and creative problem-solving to design win-lose demos, pilot projects, and immersive workshops showcasing Google Cloud’s value across its full portfolio.
  • Cross-Pillar Solution Leadership: Drive architecture decisions for complex customer engagements, presenting clear delivery frameworks and steering services through transition phases – from inception to full implementation.
  • Pricing and Post-Sales Coordination: Active involvement in post-sales pricing alignment and delivery plan validation, ensuring seamless handoff to implementation teams.
  • Team-wide Collaboration: Serve as a solution-hond, monitoring migration progress, troubleshooting, and amplifying cross-functional processes to deliver high-impact outcomes.
