Platform Customer Engineer – Public Sector
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- 6 years of experience with cloud-native architecture in a customer-facing or support role
- Experience with:
- Cloud engineering
- On-premise engineering
- Virtualization
- Containerization platforms
- Experience engaging with, or presenting to, technical stakeholders, or executive leaders
- Active Security Check (SC) UK security clearance, or ability to obtain
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical solutions sales experience in one or more areas:
- Infrastructure modernization
- Application modernization
- Data management
- Data analytics
- Cloud AI
- Networking
- Migrations
- Security
- Ability to drive the entire sales cycle, including defining delivery and consumption plans for execution
- Long-term technical strategy experience to unlock new workloads for customers
- Hands-on experience with migrating applications and services to cloud platforms
- Knowledge of security concepts, including:
- Encryption
- Identity management
- Access control
- Attack vectors
- Penetration testing

About the Role
The Google Cloud Platform team empowers customers to transform and innovate for their businesses, delivering secure, reliable, and scalable cloud technology across the full stack—from infrastructure to applications, devices, and hardware.
As part of a fast-growing, entrepreneur-driven team, the Platform Customer Engineer (CE) will:
- Partner with technical sales teams to position Google Cloud as the preferred choice for public sector customers, acting as their primary technical advisor.
- Conduct deep technical discussions to uncover business challenges, building tailored, Google Cloud-centred strategic solutions.
- Drive technical wins and define execution plans from initial engagement to delivery, ensuring a seamless transition to implementation teams.
- Combine sales acumen, technical expertise, and market knowledge to prove the value of Google Cloud’s portfolio.
- Identify, pursue, and win new business workloads, while penetrating existing customer accounts.
- Cover a broad technical landscape, including infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data analytics, and more.

Responsibilities
- Develop and own the technical account plan and strategy, actively participating in targeted sales activities
- Blend sales, programming, and solutions architecture expertise to demonstrate Google Cloud Platform’s value, through:
- Complex demos
- Pilot programs
- In-depth technical workshops
- Design cross-pillar solutions, drive technical wins, and define initial delivery plans
- Facilitate the post-sales transition by:
- Supporting pricing activities
- Handing off execution to implementation teams
- Monitor delivery progress, providing ongoing support during:
- Ramp-up phases
- Project migration
- Implementation initiatives
