Business Unit Description
Led by Dave Penney, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer. This broad business unit and incorporates the following functions:
- UCAS Media
- Education and industry Sales
- Education and Industry Marketing
- Digital Marketing Operations
- Events
- Partnerships
- Apprenticeships
- Public Affairs, Press and Communications
- Insights
The business unit is set up to deliver against the objectives of UCAS charity and operate UCAS Media (UCAS’s commercial subsidiary) to help fund UCAS’s charitable operations. For the charity, our objective is to provide everyone with the information, advice and guidance they need to make informed decisions on their next steps. We deliver on this via our media ecosystem which consists of information, advice and guidance on ucas.com, our social media feeds across various channels, email, live events and webinars.
For UCAS Media, our business objective is to generate revenue through paid collaborations with higher education providers who wish to improve their position in the market, and commercial brands who want to reach students. All brands wishing to use our media ecosystem and insight services must align with our framework. All profits generated are gift aided to UCAS the charity and in turn fund the charitable objectives, such as our recent announcement that students in receipt of free school meals will no longer need to pay the UCAS application fee.

About The Role
As a Customer Manager, in this 12-month Maternity cover, you will build and maintain professional customer relationships, identifying value-based solutions to fit the needs of the business and deliver targeted revenue for a portfolio of accounts within an assigned segment. With support from relevant stakeholders across UCAS, the Customer Manager will sell cross channel marketing solutions, events and insight that deliver high quality results for their portfolio of clients. This customer facing role will provide support and advice to both new and existing customers, with the objective of maintaining existing revenue streams and upselling new and existing services.
Key accountabilities:
- Deliver a revenue target by executing a customer focussed sales plan working with core and foundation level customers.
- Maintaining existing, long-term relationships with Clients and developing relationships with key decision makers.
- Identifying additional media opportunities with existing Clients, within a defined Client portfolio or sector and look for new client opportunities.
- Recommending the best media and marketing solutions, within a Client budget and working to deadlines for multiple campaigns, across multiple channels, such as on and offsite display, Paid Media (Facebook, Instagram, Google, and Snapchat), email, SMS, Direct Mail, events.

Skills, Qualifications, And Experience
- Demonstrable experience in working within a relationship, campaign management, marketing or sales environment.
- Proven ability to embrace and adapt to change in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong skillset in the various marketing, media, and digital practices, with a desire to continuously learn and develop these skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability of influencing a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrable experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Proven experience in customer service and engagement with a passion for achieving the best possible results for Clients.
- Creative and curious, with the self-motivation to work across an individual Client portfolio, within a strong team environment.
