If so, Skipton Building Society has a fantastic Customer Relationship Consultant role available at our Chester and West Kirby branches.
As a Customer Relationship Consultant, your role will include:
- Engaging in conversations with customers to understand their needs
- Providing tailored advice on savings products, services, and financial planning
- Conducting ‘My Review’ appointments, whether face-to-face, virtually, or over the phone
- Proactively contacting customers by phone and email
- Using internal systems to maintain acc accurate and up-to-date records
- Acting as a trusted advisor to help customers achieve their financial goals (home ownership, retirement, family planning, etc.)
Our branches are the heartbeat of local communities, but increasingly, we support customers through multichannel engagement: in-person, virtually, and via direct contact. Your key responsibility, whether promoting a product or resolving a problem, will be placing customer needs at the centre and delivering first-class service every time.
As a Customer Relationship Consultant, you will be more than just the friendly face and voice of Skipton—you’ll be a listener, problem solver, and trusted partner helping customers fulfil their financial dreams.

Key Responsibilities
- Engaging with customers:
- Asking insightful questions to identify needs
- Tailoring financial solutions that fit their circumstances
- Conducting ‘My Review’ appointments in person, virtually, or via telephone
- Customer interaction:
- Being the first point of contact for customers with enthusiasm and a solution-driven mindset
- Proactively contacting customers via phone or email for proactive service
- Product & advice knowledge:
- Educating customers on savings products, services, and the different communication channels available
- Advising on savings, mortgages, investments and financial planning
- Record management:
- Ensuring accurate and up-to-date customer files through digital systems
- Identifying and following up on vulnerable customers with appropriate support
- Compliance & policies:
- Adhering to regulatory standards, policies, and controls
- Utilising provided training, coaching, and communication channels
Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in customer-facing roles—whether in retail, food & beverage, hospitality, healthcare, contact centres, or finance. Previous bank or building society experience is not essential—we encourage cross-industry talent!
- Proven ability in:
- Listening skills and problem-solving with confidence
- Engaging in conversations that identify needs and build trust
- Flexibility in handling different customer types and challenges
- Keen ability for role adaptation, with a positive attitude towards new challenges and changing business needs
- Excellent time management and ability to handle busy periods with a smile
- Outgoing and approachable personality with genuine passion for helping others
