Customer Service Advisor

Location: Hove

Role Type: Contract - 6 months

Work Setup: Hybrid - 2 days in the office

Salary: £16 per hour

About the Role

We are currently seeking Bereavement Claims Handlers to support a high-priority remediation project involving sensitive claims cases. This is a time-critical piece of work, with approximately 3,500 outstanding cases requiring contact and resolution by the end of the year.

What You'll Do

This role focuses on the investigation and progression of bereavement claims where no proactive chasing process has previously been in place. You will be responsible for working through a large caseload of sensitive records, identifying next steps, and ensuring cases are progressed appropriately and respectfully.

Day-to-day duties will include:

  • Reviewing and investigating cases on a spreadsheet to determine what work has already been completed
  • Tracing and locating beneficiaries using internal systems and referral processes
  • Drafting and issuing correspondence, including first and second chaser letters
  • Making telephone contact with next of kin or beneficiaries where appropriate
  • Calculating benefits payable at quotation stage
  • Liaising with internal teams where specialist tracing or escalation is required

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent telephone manner with a calm and respectful approach
  • High level of literacy and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and discretion
