CUSTOMER SERVICE EXECUTIVE

The Company

Specialist Sports Group is a well-established and expanding sporting goods agency offering Sales, Marketing, Distribution, and Creative solutions to performance sports brands including world leading brand adidas. Specialist Sports is based on the western edge of Southampton, England.

Specialist Sports have distribution responsibility for 12 product categories across the UK, Ireland, Europe and several other territories around the world. The category portfolio includes Rugby, Hockey, Cricket, Tennis, Track & Field, Olympic Sports and Teamwear featuring a range of products used by many of the world’s best athletes and grassroots enthusiasts. Specialist Sports are custodians of the adidas brand in these categories and hold Sports Marketing contracts with relevant Governing Bodies, leading clubs, and athletes. Additionally, sister company Specialist Sports Creation holds the global license to manufacture adidas apparel, accessories and hardgoods across a number of categories including Rugby and Cricket in support of the wider commercial strategy.

The Role

Specialist Sports are seeking a committed and capable Customer Service Executive who will assist with fulfilment of forward and daily sales orders to wholesale trade accounts, consumers & sponsored athletes. Delivering market leading standards with B2B & B2C business ensuring enhanced customer experience.

The role will demand:

  • Work on-site at Specialist Sports Ltd HQ in Southampton.
  • Manage commercial enquiries, delivering market-leading customer service through proactive problem-solving and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of service and communication across multiple channels, including telephone, email, and web-based platforms.
  • Liaise with internal and third-party Operations teams to ensure customer demand is managed efficiently, underpinned by clear and frequent communication.
  • Support teamwear customers and direct consumers, maximising sales through on-time and in full order dispatch and effective handling of day-to-day enquiries.
  • Manage sponsored athlete agreements and related enquiries in collaboration with the commercial team, ensuring goods are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Handle returns requests and drive resolutions for product or service complaints.
  • Oversee multiple email inboxes to ensure comprehensive customer service coverage across different business functions.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc duties as delegated by the Customer Service Manager, or their designated representative in their absence.

Skills & Experience

The Customer Service Executive will preferably have the below skills & experience:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage data, track orders, and produce basic reports.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • A personable, friendly, and professional telephone manner, with strong verbal communication skills.
  • Confident written communication skills, with proven experience managing multiple email inboxes and correspondence.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when processing orders, returns, and customer records.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude, with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Resilience and a calm, patient approach when handling challenging customer interactions.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general IT literacy; familiarity with CRM or order management systems is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and third-party partners.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to take on ad-hoc tasks as business needs require.
  • An interest in or knowledge of sport/teamwear industry is desirable but not essential.
