Customer Service Manager

Customer Service Manager – Internal Sales Team Lead

A Power Transmission Manufacturer

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Customer Service Manager to lead our Internal Sales team and ensure an exceptional customer experience.


About the Role

As a manufacturer of Power Transmission products (rubber belts, timing belts, sprockets, pulleys, and chains), this role requires strong engineering experience to support the internal sales team while guiding day-to-day operations, enhancing customer satisfaction, and driving team performance through effective sales strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the internal sales department
  • Lead, coach, and develop internal sales staff
  • Handle and resolve escalated customer complaints professionally
  • Monitor team performance and customer satisfaction levels
  • Develop and implement customer service policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to service standards and response times
  • Analyse customer feedback and identify improvements
  • Produce KPI reports, customer trend analyses, and team performance reviews
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to enhance the customer journey
  • Recruit, train, and onboard new team members
  • Manage staff rotas, workloads, and performance reviews
  • Maintain strong product and company knowledge across the team

Requirements

Skills & Experience

✅ Proven experience in a customer service management role ✅ Experience working with engineers and purchasing departments ✅ Engineering background (sales or workshop experience preferred) ✅ Strong leadership and people management skills ✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities ✅ Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills ✅ Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple priorities ✅ Strong organisational and administrative skills ✅ Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office ✅ Deep understanding of customer service best practices

Qualifications

📚 GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths 📚 Engineering qualifications (BTEC, degree, or professional qualification in Engineering, Management, or Customer Service – desirable but not essential
