Location: Eastleigh Salary: £26,685 per annum (pro rata) (Band 3)
Hours: Up to 25 hours per week (core hours: 11:00am–2:30pm minimum) Contract: Permanent

Eastleigh Borough Council is seeking a Customer Service Officer to deliver an outstanding experience for residents, businesses, and visitors. Whether assisting with complex enquiries, navigating services, or resolving challenges, your role is crucial in building sustainable, healthy communities.
Every day, you’ll be the first point of contact for those needing help—solving problems, offering clear guidance, and ensuring every customer feels supported.
What Your Role Entails
This dynamic frontline position requires resilience, empathy, and strong communication skills. You’ll work across multiple channels:
Key Responsibilities
- Support residents & customers face-to-face, over the phone, or digitally, resolving enquiries at first point of contact
- Provide clear guidance on using online services confidently
- Identify support needs and ensure customers reach the right team
- Maintain accurate and secure records, handling data discretionally
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve positive outcomes
- Promote digital solutions to enhance accessibility
- Contribute ideas for improving service quality

What a Typical Day Could Look Like
- Assisting residents at reception with complex queries
- Handling phone and digital requests, seeking resolutions
- Helping customers manage online services efficiently
- Detecting when additional support is needed
- Contributing to team performance targets

Essential Qualifications:
- GCSE English & Maths at grade C (4) or equivalent

Job Details
Working Hours
- Part-time up to 25 hours per week
- Core requirement: Available Monday–Friday, 11:00am–2:30pm (flexibility for remaining hours based on service needs)
- Office hours: 8:30am–5:00pm (closed weekends & bank holidays)
