Customer Service Advisor (Fixed Term Contract) – Preston
About the Role
A fixed-term contract (ending August 2027) opportunity has arisen for a motivated, professional, and versatile individual to join the Service Department at our Preston site. The role requires working on a rotating shift pattern including weekdays and 1 in 3 Saturdays:
- Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 3:30pm
- Week 2: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm
- Week 3: Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 7:00pm
- 1 in 3 Saturdays: 7:00am to 1:00pm
Reporting to the Service Reception Supervisor, this role involves:
- Receiving customers.
- Identifying and progressing routine service and repair requirements.
- Promoting the sale of service and accessories while respecting the limits of technical ability.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintain excellent customer relations, including:
- Advising customers on work progress, additional requirements, and handling queries.
- Explaining relevant details to assist specialised teams in diagnosis, testing, and inspection.
- Record customer requests in full detail, obtaining authority to proceed with workshop actions.
- Prepare detailed test/diagnosis reports for quotations, estimates, or job cards, ensuring customer and workshop records stay up to date.
- Proactively promote and effect the sale of repair and service facilities.
- Perform any reasonable duties as instructed by their manager.

Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- ideally, in the commercial vehicle industry or a similar service-related capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team, as well as independently.
- Strong communication skills, alongside a friendly, confident, and professional manner.

Technical & Administrative Skills
- IT literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
- Must hold a full and current UK driving licence.
