Customer Services Advisor

Retail Mechanic (Car & Cycle Technician) - Halfords

  • Age: 21+ – £12.91 per hour
  • Under 21 – *£11.05 per hour

Love all things motoring and cycling? Great with customers?

Your knack with customers and boundless enthusiasm for cars and bikes will lead you to success in this role. Ideally, you’ll already have experience fitting car parts or cycle repair, even as a hobby. If not, don’t worry—we have training to get you up to speed. You’ll be supporting our market-leading service standards.

About the Role

You’ll work on customers’ vehicles and bikes, hand-fitting car parts, vehicle technology, cycle builds, and servicing. This role focuses on practical problem-solving while ensuring fast, efficient service. While retail or customer-centric experience is ideal, we’ll support your development if you can demonstrate adaptability in a sales environment.

Halfords invests heavily in training, enabling colleagues to grow their careers at their own pace—whether staying in Retail or exploring opportunities across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced workshop or store environment
  • Fit car parts and vehicle technologies (online parts ordering included where applicable)
  • Assemble, repair, and service bicycles and e-bikes
  • Problem-solve quickly and efficiently for seamless customer experiences
  • Upsell/Halomarket product recommendations where required
  • Adhere to shop standards of presentation and hygiene
  • Use POS systems effectively to process sales and walk customers through their purchase
  • Maintain customer reviews and feedback effectively

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
