Customer Solutions Engineer

Customer Solutions Engineer | Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM)

Location: Hybrid (Home-based with regular UK travel) Company: Fast-growing software company specialising in Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM)

Datacentre People are seeking a Customer Solutions Engineer to join their UK team, supporting customers and bridging pre-sales, product management, and technical support.


The Opportunity

As the technical expert for an advanced DCIM software platform, you’ll:

  • Engage with customers throughout the sales process
  • Shape future product development through feedback and market insights
  • Work remotely with travel, delivering demonstrations, managing proof-of-concept (PoC) projects, and engaging with strategic accounts

What the Job Involves

Customer Engagement & Sales Support

  • Deliver tailored software demonstrations to prospective customers
  • Support the sales team during customer meetings and technical discussions
  • Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, and conferences

Project & Engagement Delivery

  • Manage proof-of-concept (PoC) projects and early-stage customer engagements
  • Provide technical input for RFPs, tenders, and proposal responses
  • Act as first-point technical support for strategic customer accounts

Product & Documentation

  • Create technical documentation, user guides, and product collateral
  • Develop functional design documentation for customer projects
  • Deliver customer training both remotely and on-site

Key Responsibilities

Close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Business Development to: ✔ Communicate customer feedback and influence future product development ✔ Work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment ✔ Combine technical expertise with customer engagement and product strategy


Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Customer-facing experience in pre-sales, technical support, product support, or solutions engineering
  • Background in enterprise software, networking, IT infrastructure, or data centre technologies
  • Exceptional presentation & demonstration skills
  • Experience supporting RFPs, tenders, or proof-of-concept activities
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Self-motivated with comfort working remotely + regular travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DCIM software (a asset, but adjacent fields like infrastructure management, BMS, monitoring, or enterprise software will also be considered)
  • Background in a smaller, fast-growing technology business
