Customer Team Member
About the Role
Join our team at Co-op as a Customer Team Member and play a key role in delivering friendly, helpful service in your local Chesterton Road, Cambridge store.
Location: 179 – 185, Ailsea Court, Chesterton Road, Cambridge, CB4 1AF
Pay: £13.04 per hour Contract: Permanent, part-time (24 hours per week + regular overtime)
Working Pattern: A mix of opening, closing, and mid-day shifts—including at least 2 evenings per week and 1 weekend shift. Your availability must include:
- Friday after 6pm, or
- Saturdays, or
- Sundays
Full training provided
What the Role Involves
As a Customer Team Member, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, offering essential services to your community, including:
- Supporting the daily operations of our local Co-op store, post office, and bakery
- Offering friendly service, solving customer issues, and ensuring a great shopping experience
- Stocking shelves, checking prices, dates, and stock accuracy (authorized sign-off may apply)
- Handling cash and running tills efficiently and accurately
- Preparing and serving baked goods in our in-store bakery

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Provide friendly customer service with attention to detail in resolving any issues
- Work effectively as part of the team to maintain high standards in store appearance and operation
- Operate smoothly on the shop floor, tills, and in the bakery, ensuring a fast, accurate customer experience
- Maintain compliance with food safety, legal stocking, and pricing regulations
- Promote Co-op membership and goodwill in the local community
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about helping people and delivering excellent customer service
- Adaptable to flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Keen to work in a busy, team-driven environment (Previous experience not essential!)
