Customer Underwriting Advisor
Location: Bupa Place (Salford Quays, M50 3SP)
Type: Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday) Hybrid Working: Available once fully competent in role
Salary: £28,200 per annum + excellent Bupa Benefits
Note: Home working is not available initially. Hybrid working is possible post-competency.

In our contact centre, you’ll be the voice and ears for our customers, ensuring every call—no matter its complexity—delivers meaningful impact.
This busy and dynamic team handles calls from members and internal staff to discuss:
- Eligibility
- Health insurance options
- Access to diagnosis, treatment, and specialist support
We pride ourselves on fast-tracking access to treatment while providing tailored support.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll:
- Speak with members about claims in early membership stages, assessing medical reports while liaising with healthcare professionals for eligibility verification.
- Review incoming paperwork, including:
- New business applications
- Maintenance of existing memberships
- Healthcare practitioner questionnaires
- Special condition inquiries
- Collect and analyse relevant medical information to ensure accurate decisions.
- Guide members through medical assessments during their claiming process and clearly communicate decisions.

Essential Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Previous contact centre experience with a strong customer service focus.
- Exceptional attention to detail to analyse data and make evidence-based decisions.
- Exemplary communication skills (written & verbal) to tackle sensitive medical queries with diplomacy.
- Proficiency in keyboard skills and system navigation.
- Telephone manner with objection handling and complaint resolution expertise.
- Strong organisational skills, efficient time management.
