Customs Administrator – Permanent Position

Role Purpose
The Customs Administrator will be responsible for:
- Completing customs administration documents and processes
- Optimising customer service for customs-related activities via proactive and reactive approaches
- Ensuring full compliance with company policies, external regulations, and legislation
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review customs documentation, verifying:
- Customer details (EORI, VAT, legal entity)
- Accuracy and completeness before declaration and clearance
- Manage customs clearance processes in line with regulations and DACHSER’s internal procedures
- Proactively investigate and resolve customs-related issues to:
- Minimise delays
- Prevent non-conformities
- Monitor transit movements, identifying and addressing irregularities
- Take preventative action to avoid disruptions, including:
- Diverting trailers to Inland Border Facilities (IBF)
- Maintain accurate electronic records and update Excel-based tracking systems
- Ensure compliance with:
- Customs authorisations
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) requirements
- Liaise with:
- Customers
- Internal teams
- The Team Leader to resolve queries and escalate risks
- Manage personal and shared inboxes efficiently for:
- Timely responses
- Strong team collaboration
- Uphold DACHSER’s values while maintaining a flexible, decision-making approach
- Support broader business operations as required

Ideal Candidate Requirements
- Experience working under internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel)
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to:
- Communicate effectively at all stakeholder levels
- Work across departments with a customer-first mindset
- Adaptability to manage changing priorities efficiently
