Customs Compliance Administrator: St Albans
An excellent opportunity has become available for a Customs Compliance Administrator to join a growing Customs Compliance Team based in St Albans.
This is an ideal role for someone with customs, freight forwarding or logistics experience who enjoys administration, accuracy and working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates with strong administration skills and a genuine interest in customs and international logistics are also encouraged, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.
The Role
Working as part of the Customs Compliance Team, you will support the customs clearance process by preparing accurate documentation and ensuring freight movements remain compliant with UK and European customs regulations.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Producing and compiling customs documentation for company drivers
- Preparing Goods Movement References (GMRs)
- Creating European Logistics Envelopes
- Completing Safety and Security Declarations
- Processing ICS2 declarations
- Preparing IPAFFS documentation
- Creating operational job tickets
- Entering customer orders onto the operating system
- Accurately recording costs and charges
- Ensuring the correct customs agents are assigned to shipments
- Monitoring T1 Transit documentation and ensuring documents are discharged correctly
- Liaising with customs agents throughout Europe
- Handling customer enquiries by telephone and email
- Supporting the Customs Compliance Team with continuous improvements

The Successful Candidate
The Successful Customs Compliance Administrator Will Have
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Good numerical and data entry skills
- Microsoft Office skills, including Excel
- The ability to prioritise work in a busy environment
- A positive, proactive and professional attitude
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Previous experience within Customs, Freight Forwarding, Shipping, Logistics, International Transport or Supply Chain would be highly advantageous, although candidates with strong administration experience and a willingness to learn will also be considered.
