Group Customs Trade Optimisation Manager

This Group Customs Trade Optimisation Manager role is critical—it ensures the Kingfisher Group achieves excellence in customs compliance and governance while optimising commercial opportunities related to customs and international cross-border trade. The position will:
- Maintain accurate classification and customs data for 100% compliance and high efficiency.
- Identify threats or opportunities impacting the Group and facilitate business change.
- Pave the way for technology solutions to enhance compliance, trade, and commercial operations.
What’s the Job?
Core Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day processes to gather and maintain compliant customs and cross-border trade data across the Group.
- Drive consistency in customs optimisation by establishing a standardised process with clearly defined RACI (Roles, Accountabilities, Collaboration, accountable Individuals).
- Measure and manage performance—internally with Group entities and externally with brokers and partners—by building KPIs and performance frameworks.
- Oversee key processes, including:
- Data auditing, maintenance, and reporting.
- Identifying and correcting data inconsistencies using large datasets and internal tools.
- Collaborate across functions—support sourcing teams with cross-border trade considerations, while working closely with Supply Chain, Tax, and Finance.

Monitor changes in relevant legislation, rules, and classifications, ensuring updates are communicated and implemented.
- Advise the Head of Customs and provide expert input to internal stakeholders to drive compliance and commercial benefits.
- Implement training workshops to educate the wider business on classification and customs requirements globally.
- Support the design and maintenance of databases and systems containing:
- Commodity codes
- Duty/Agglomerated Duty (ADD) rates
- Preferences/Free Trade Area (FTA) and Y-codes

- Lead the eventual development of technology-based solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in classifications, freight, and compliance management.
What You’ll Bring
Experience & Skills
- A detail-oriented problem-solver with strong technical skills—proficient in Excel and MS Office (advanced functions such as VLOOKUPs and formulas).
- Hands-on experience managing complex datasets, preferably in retail or supply chain industries.
- Strong analytical thinking—focused on data-driven solution-based approaches and leveraging automation and technology.
- demonstrate performance benchmarking, solving problems, and identifying operational improvements.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a high-pressure corporate environment.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and collaborative communication skills—both internally and externally.
