About the Role

CPS Group UK are delighted to be working with a leading global retailer to appoint a seasoned Customs Operations Compliance Manager to provide a comprehensive and cost effective Customs clearance service for all goods sourced and moving to and between the UK and EU, in compliance with prevailing trade legislation.

The Customs Operations Compliance Manager will support the Buying & Merchandising team with the classification of goods and product support and coordinate with supply chain partners for the efficient movement of goods to and between suppliers, distribution centres and sales outlets.

Role Requirements

  • Work closely with Finance & Accounts to calculate/monitor the application of duty and freight factors used to calculate the cost of imported products
  • Ensure the duty rates for each product are accurately specified and used through the Duty payment process
  • Seek external advice to validate coding and increase departs expertise
  • Check product classification ensure the appropriate duty rate is applied
  • Management of the Duty Management System, service provider and processes for Customs entries and month end closure (incl. customs procedures including Bonded Warehouse, CFSP and approvals)
  • Ensure correct vendor documentation and/or DTI licences are available and accurately completed so that all customs requirements are met
  • Apply for relevant import licenses to ensure product can be imported
  • Coordination with Finance and Accounts for freight and duty forecasting and expenditure.
  • Coordinate with Global logistics partners for freight forwarding services
  • Ensure all defined Import Standard Operating Procedure is routinely followed
  • Compile and issue defined periodic reporting and ad-hoc supporting information to illustrate key statistics, data and business or financial impact

    • Letters of credit
    • Customs procedures
    • Duty management
    • Freight Forwarding / Transportation
    • Experience of warehouse procedures and inbound management
    • Experience of importing consumer products
    • Retail experience
  • Good presentation and communication skills
