Customs Shift Leader

About This Role

Nova Talent are working with a young and innovative company that is experiencing continual growth. We are working together in sourcing an experienced Customs Shift Leader to ensure customs declarations are completed on time and in full, to allow goods to move. Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Preparation and completion of customs entries for import and export.
  • Accurate data entry.
  • Respond to customs queries, including commodity codes, duty rates, licences and documentation.
  • Calculation of duty and VAT.
  • Maintain compliance with current and evolving legislation and customs procedures.
  • The ability to work in a multi-software work environment.

  • Experience with organising and assigning shift tasks and holding staff members accountable for completion.
  • Ensure the shift is adequately staffed.
  • Develop and assign tasks to staff members, oversee completion of tasks.
  • Create development opportunities for experienced staff members.
  • Monitor team and capture performance data to develop staff members.
  • To ensure changes to documents are communicated effectively to the team to ensure updates are applied and relevant documents are signed and consolidated.
  • People Management: end to end lifecycle of your people.
  • To complete daily shift report at the end of every late shift ensuring that all areas are accurately completed, and all aspects are checked fully.
  • Adhere to company policy and procedures and ensure compliance from your shift team.
  • To report and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure company procedures are followed to ensure that there is no financial loss to the company or third parties.

  • Customs or logistics knowledge would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong PC skills including Office 365 packages.

Salary And Benefits

  • £28,500 - £31,000

Available Shifts

  • Working on a 4 week rotation - 8 Hour shifts (06:00-14:30 / 08:30-17:00 / 12:00-20:30)
  • Or, 4 Days on/4 Days off (9.30am – 8pm)
