Full-Time, Permanent
Salary
- OTE (On-Target Earnings) up to £52,480 (uncapped)
- Basic Salary: £31,000 to £46,000 (depending on qualifications)
- Plus a Productivity Bonus and Time Saved Bonus Scheme worth £3,000
Hours
40 hours between Monday – Friday (8:00am – 5:30pm), plus Saturday mornings on a 1 in 3 rotation.
About the Role
Lookers Ford Chelmsford is actively strengthening their team by recruiting Commercial Vehicle Technicians / Mechanics to work in a moving, dynamic workshop.
In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced technicians and conduct essential tasks:
- V Vehicle health checks using modern diagnostic technology
- Vehicle servicing
- Minor repairs and fault rectification
- Collaborating with the Aftersales Manager to ensure success
Candidates with a ্দNVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent) are encouraged to apply, alongside experienced Mechanics from any sector. Manufacturer-accredited training and opportunities in Hybrid & Electric vehicle experience are included.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-delivery vehicle inspections on both new and used vehicles
- Check and align vehicles in line with manufacturer guidelines
- Install customer-requested vehicle accessories
- Perform basic vehicle health reports and recommend follow-up work
- Inspect lights, tyre pressure, mechanical and electrical components
- Carry out minor repairs for new and used vehicles
- Diagnose and resolve basic mechanical and electrical faults
- Conduct veheicle servicing as per manufacturers' guidelines and customer requests
- Complete additionally requested repairs once authorised by the customer
- Ensure warranty repairs adhere to manufacturer guidelines and include accurate write-ups
- Perform road tests to confirm fault resolutions
- Complete all administrative paperwork to high standards

Requirements
ideally
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification
- Practical motor industry experience (brand agnostic)
- A full and valid UK driving licence
desirable but not essential
- Brand experience (accredited training provided)
- Diagnostic, MOT, or EV experience

Note: The listed salary will scale from £31,000 for Prep/PDI Technicians to £46,000 for an Accredited Master Technician.
