Cyber Essentials Assessor
The Company
Evolve North is a specialist information security, cyber resilience and information governance consultancy supporting organisations across regulated public and private sectors. We are seeking an assessor to join our established Cyber Essentials team, delivering Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessments to a diverse client base.
The Role
The successful candidate will join an existing team of Cyber Essentials assessors, carrying out Cyber Essentials (CE) and Cyber Essentials Plus (CE Plus) assessments against the current NCSC requirements. This includes reviewing self-assessment questionnaire submissions, verifying technical controls, identifying areas of non-compliance, and producing clear, accurate assessment reports.
For CE Plus assessments, you will conduct hands-on technical verification of controls including patch management, access control, malware protection, firewall configuration, and security update management across client environments. You will need to communicate findings to clients in a way that is clear and constructive, helping them understand what is required to meet certification and how to address any gaps.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The ideal candidate will already hold a qualified Cyber Essentials assessor certification. However, for the right person who is able to meet the IASME requirements to become a Cyber Essentials assessor with a strong IT background and a demonstrable interest in cyber security, we will support you through the certification process. We will also support your development towards becoming a CE Plus assessor if you are not already qualified at that level.
This role is available on either a full-time or part-time basis. For part-time arrangements, we would expect the successful candidate to work every weekday, with flexible hours to suit, for example 10am to 3pm. This is to ensure consistent availability for clients and colleagues throughout the working week, as assessments often involve scheduled client contact and time-sensitive follow-up.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You will be expected to manage your own assessment workload, maintain accurate records, and work to the timescales required by the certification body. You will collaborate with colleagues across the consultancy and contribute to maintaining the quality and consistency of our assessment output.
Candidates should have a solid IT background with practical experience across areas such as networking, system administration, or IT support. Familiarity with common operating systems, firewalls, and endpoint security is important. An interest in or existing experience within cyber security is essential. Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, SSCP, or equivalent are desirable but not required.
This role is suited to someone who combines technical knowledge with attention to detail and a methodical approach to assessment work.
