Cyber Security Analyst
East Yorkshire
Permanent
Up to £45,000
Hybrid: 2 days from home, 3 days in office
I am seeking an IT Security Analyst to help strengthen the organisation's security posture and cyber resiliency. The role will involve detecting and responding to security threats, supporting vulnerability remediation across the estate, and helping ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
What this role involves:
- Develop, monitor, and mature the SIEM solution.
- Support ongoing development and monitoring of IDS/IPS, detection and response solutions, and other threat detection systems.
- Analyse incidents and coordinate appropriate responses, including containment and escalation.
- Perform vulnerability scanning and assist with remediation, tracking, and reporting of vulnerabilities identified.
- Collaborate with infrastructure operations and technical services teams to implement secure configurations and secure the estate.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and controls.
- Help ensure compliance efforts are aligned to standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIST.
- Conduct regular user awareness activities, including phishing simulations, training, and internal initiatives to reduce human-factor risks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
- Support the protection of digital assets, including security, backup, restoration, and disaster recovery, aligning solutions with business objectives.

What I'm looking for:
- Experience in a cybersecurity or infrastructure security role.
- Experience of commonplace SIEM and vulnerability management tools.
- Strong knowledge of detection and response solutions, such as EDR, XDR, and MDR.
- Solid understanding of common attack vectors, security principles, and risk-based thinking.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to document findings and engage stakeholders clearly.
- Working knowledge of compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
- Comfortable investigating incidents and proposing technical and procedural improvements.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of email security gateway technologies.
