Cyber Security Consultant – Various Levels

Location(s): Bristol or London (Hybrid Working) Salary: £50,000–£70,000, depending on experience

An established engineering and technology consultancy is searching for multiple Cyber Security Consultants to support complex and high-profile programmes within defence, critical national infrastructure (CNI), and operational technology (OT) environments.

About the Role

This position presents the opportunity to:

  • Deliver cyber security consultancy services, risk assessments, and security assurance activities across Defence, CNI, and OT environments
  • Develop security governance documentation, policies, and controls aligned with client and regulatory standards such as ISO27001 and IEC 62443
  • Advise stakeholders on technical cyber security challenges and secure-by-design approaches
  • At the senior/principal level, contribute to project delivery, business development, and mentorship of junior team members

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide cyber security consultancy and assurance activities
  • Author governance and policy frameworks in compliance with industry and regulatory standards
  • Address security challenges, ensuring robust risk mitigation strategies
  • Offer technical guidance and support stakeholders in implementing secure design principles
  • (Senior level) Drive leadership in program delivery, commercial strategy, and team development

Requirements

  • Experience in Defence, aerospace, or national infrastructure cyber security, particularly in operational technology environments
  • Background in security assurance, accreditation, and risk management
  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • CISSP, CISM, CISMP, CCSP, ISO27001, or GICSP
    • (Preferred) OT-specific certifications (e.g., IEC/ISA 62443) or membership in bodies like IISP, IS2, BCS, CIISEC
  • Familiarity with OT/ICS cyber security standards/frameworks:
    • IEC 62443, NIST CSF, NIS Regulations, HSE OG-0086
  • Experience in network segmentation and OT cyber security techniques
  • Strong communication skills—ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • (Essential for role start) Security clearance (SC or above)
