Cyber Security Engineer – London, Manchester, Birmingham
Role Summary
We are seeking a Security Engineer to join our team and play a key role in safeguarding client systems, applications, and data. You will design, implement, and maintain security solutions, proactively identifying risk and enforcing compliance with security standards.

About the Role
Our Engineering practice is a growing community of industry-leading experts covering Security Engineering, DevOps, Software Engineering, and Quality Engineering. We excel in delivering high-quality development practices and solving complex client challenges while fostering a collaborative environment.
As part of our Security Engineering team, you will:
- Be exposed to the latest security technologies across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Engage directly with incident detection, response, and threat intelligence tools.
- Experience a mix of cutting-edge platforms and security tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage security tools, systems, and processes to protect infrastructure, applications, and data.
- Partner with engineering and security teams to embed security best practices.
- Automate security tooling, including SIEM solutions (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel, Cribl, ELK) and log ingestion.
- Handle firewall and network security in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
- Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Conduct security assessments (e.g., CIS benchmarks, infrastructure reviews).

Note: This role may require on-call availability for high-priority incidents, with additional compensation dependent on client needs.
Requirements & Desirable Experience
Core Skills
- Deep understanding of core cybersecurity concepts (e.g., networking, cloud security, CI/CD pipelines, virtualisation, infrastructure-as-code (IaC)), including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Software development skills (Linux or WSL) and expertise in scripting/programming (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Experience with SIEM, log routing, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management, and endpoint security.
- Familiarity with AI hardening techniques and SOC operations.
Desirable Attributes
- Strong background in deployment automation, cross-team collaboration, and complex system administration.
- Knowledge of IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep).
Security Clearance Notes
Any offer is subject to satisfactory BPSS and attainment of a security clearance, typically requiring:
- A 5-year continuous UK address history (with no periods exceeding 30 consecutive days abroad).
- A declaration of being a British passport holder with no dual nationality at the point of application.
