Cyber Security Engineer - Junior – Mid-Level
Location: Brighton / 3 days per week onsite Job Type: Contract until end-2026 (12-month extension) Salary: £200–£225 per day (inside IR35) Working Setup: Hybrid (3 days in office) Industry Sector: Financial Services, Fintech

About the Role
A long-term client is urgently seeking a Junior–Mid Level Cyber Security Engineer to support the implementation, integration, testing, and validation of AI-enabled detection and response capabilities.
The role involves collaboration across:
- Cyber Detection & Response teams
- Infrastructure & network teams
- Cloud and platform teams
You will:
- Onboard integrations
- Resolve deployment dependencies
- Validate AI-assisted detection, investigation, and response workflows through testing and attack simulations.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of:
- Agentic SOC (Security Operations Centre) capabilities
- AI assistants and workflow automation solutions
- Coordinate onboarding of:
- Integrations
- Data sources
- APIs
- Service accounts
- Required permissions
- Work with teams (network, cloud, identity, platform) to establish:
- Connectivity
- Necessary access for deployments
- Validate AI-assisted workflows for:
- Detection
- Triage
- Investigation
- Response
- Develop and execute:
- Testing scenarios
- Attack simulations
- Operational readiness exercises
- Identify integration issues, workflow gaps, and operational risks
- Support:
- Troubleshooting
- Issue resolution
- Deployment activities
- Document:
- Implementation requirements
- Testing results
- Operational procedures
- Architecture

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- ** experience:** 3+ years in:
- Cybersecurity engineering
- Security operations
- Threat detection
- Platform implementation roles
- Experience implementing and integrating enterprise security technologies
- Familiarity with:
- SIEM
- SOAR
- EDR
- Threat intelligence
- SOC workflows
- Understanding of:
- Network security
- APIs
- Authentication
- IAM (Identity and Access Management)
- Cloud environments
- Experience conducting:
- Security testing
- Attack simulation
- Validation
- Purple team activities (blue/red team collaborations)
- Soft Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting
- Analytical skills
- Documentation skills
