About the Role
A UK-based bank is looking for a motivated, hands-on and experienced Cyber Security Network Engineer with experience in the banking industry, ideally with Oracle FLEXCUBE and Oracle Banking Digital Experience (OBDX).
This role owns the bank's technical security posture, protects systems from cyber threats, and manages perimeter and application security platforms. It bridges the gap between infrastructure engineering and threat management, ensuring high availability, robust defence-in-depth, and strict regulatory compliance across all banking networks.
Responsibilities
Vulnerability Management
- Run regular vulnerability scans across networks, applications, and endpoints
- Triage findings based on business risk and CVSS scores
- Coordinate rapid remediation with IT operations teams
- Track and report on vulnerability lifecycle KPIs for senior leadership and regulators
- Validate patch effectiveness via follow-up scans
Security Infrastructure Ownership
- Manage and maintain Cisco Firepower next-generation firewalls (rule set architecture, IPS/IDS tuning, URL filtering, malware protection)
- Administer F5 WAF (Advanced WAF/ASM) to protect online banking portals, API endpoints and mobile banking backends against OWASP Top 10, credential stuffing and bot attacks
- Manage Citrix ADC/NetScaler load balancers, including TLS/SSL configuration and secure session management
- Maintain Remote Access VPNs, site-to-site IPsec tunnels and NAC policies to enforce micro-segmentation

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
