About the Role

This role is central to delivering technical knowledge, operational support, and security expertise across UK secure contracts. Success relies on building strong, trust-based working relationships by maintaining transparent communication, consistent delivery, and meeting expectations and deadlines.

You will manage security event monitoring and incident response across customer-managed environments, ensuring proactive mitigation of threats. Reporting to the 24/7/365 Cyber Security Operations Centre (CySOC), you will respond to real-time security incidents with urgency, expertise, and adherence to functional policies.


What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the Cyber Security Operations Centre (CySOC), you will:

  • Detect and respond to immediate security threats across global customer networks in a 24x7 SOC environment.
  • Monitor, analyse, investigate, and remediate real-time malicious or anomalous activities indicating potential security compromises.
  • Collaborate with incident response teams and stakeholders to resolve security issues swiftly.
  • Apply advanced technologies and security methodologies (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK & NIST) to support DNSOC’s mission of incident mitigation.

Key Focus Areas: ✔ Real-Time Threat Response: Assess and resolve live cyber threats in an operational setting. ✔ Analytical Rigour: Use industry frameworks to investigate and evaluate security patterns. ✔ Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to drive secure outcomes. ✔ Process Improvement: Contribute to strengthening security protocols and operational efficiency.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven understanding of cybersecurity principles, including repository familiarity with:
    • MITRE ATT&CK™ and NIST Cybersecurity Framework methodologies.
    • Affinity for operational security (OpsSec) in network/cloud environments.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for cybersecurity, with a proactive mindset and willingness to:
    • Work independently and take initiative in problem-solving.
    • Contribute to high-stakes fast-paced environments.
  • Analytical precision and ability to:
    • Maintain accuracy under pressure with high workloads.
    • Prioritise critical tasks while handling multifaceted security issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills—both verbal and written—for:
    • Collaborating with peers and leadership.
    • Engaging professionally with stakeholders (technical and non-technical).

Desirable Skills & Experience

While not mandatory, the following will strengthen your application:

  • Technical Exposure:
    • Prior experience supporting IT/Network security environments, including knowledge of:
      • Firewalls, endpoint protection, SIEM tools, and trend analysis.
      • Core networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.).
    • Hands-on familiarity with onsite or hybrid operations setups in security workflows.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management:
    • Experience in customer-facing security engagements, requiring responsiveness and professionalism.
  • Complementary Workflows:
    • A track record of adapting to fast-moving environments while delivering secure outcomes.
