Job Description: Vice President, Internal Audit & Risk – Cyber Security Standards & Oversight
About the Role
To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the bank’s internal control framework, supporting the mitigation of risk and protection of the bank’s operational, financial, and reputational risks.
Accountabilities
- Deep knowledge of business areas, products, processes, and platforms to conduct risk assessments.
- Collaborative leadership with stakeholders across the bank to enhance control effectiveness through detailed documentation of findings, procedures, and recommendations.
- Identification, investigation, and mitigation of control weaknesses, prioritised by severity to ensure risk alignment with the bank’s control framework and regulatory requirements.
- Reporting and communication of assessment results—key findings, risks, and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and stakeholders, ensuring actionable insights.
- Periodic reviews of the bank’s internal control framework against established policies, regulations, and best practices, enforcing adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework.
- Development of methodology for assessing controls aligned with the Barclays Controls Framework.

- Delegation & escalation: Define roles & responsibilities, align departmental needs with strategic business goals, and counsel employees on performance.

Specialised Role: Cyber Security Standards & Oversight Manager
Based in Knutsford (Radbroke Hall)
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee High-Risk Assets, governance of cybersecurity standards, and M&A integration.
- Ensure compliance with Barclays cyber frameworks, manage issues, and provide actionable insights to senior forums.
- Conduct bi-annual identification of critical assets; align acquired businesses with Barclays’ frameworks.
- Deliver board-level reporting in a highly regulated environment.

Essential Qualifications
- Deep expertise in external cyber frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and MITRE, and their application in assessing cybersecurity control maturity.
- Line management experience: Strong ability to lead, develop, and coach high-performing teams.
- Stakeholder engagement: Build trust with internal teams, auditors, and regulators, driving standards adoption.
- Clear communication: Translate complex frameworks and controls into digestible insights for executives, boards, and regulators.
Valued Technical Skills
- Expertise in cyber threats, IT risk management, control environments, and governance.
- Experience in cybersecurity assessments (e.g., identifying vulnerabilities, remediation strategies).
- Knowledge of end-to-end security stakeholder management, including lifecycle controls for high-risk assets/M&A.

- Critical competencies in risk, change/transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital/tech, and domain-specific technical skills.
