Concierge Security Engineer 2 – Newcastle, UK

About the Role

We’re seeking a Cybersecurity Consultant 2 / Concierge Security Engineer 2 in Newcastle to be a vital part of shaping the future of security operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with senior cybersecurity engineers on real-world client projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding security incidents reported by the Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Analyse structural weaknesses in customer environments to inform actionable recommendations.
  • Co-author technical reports and documentation supporting customer environments.
  • Troubleshoot security and technical issues under team guidance.
  • Communicate basic security best practices to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain professional, trust-based relationships with customers.
  • Analyse logs and events to identify potential threats or patterns.
  • Continuously develop skills through mentorship and hands-on experience.

Requirements

Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in cybersecurity or related IT fields.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Network security
    • Cloud infrastructure
    • SaaS tools
    • Identity management
  • Prior exposure to risk and vulnerability management.
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Structured analytical mindset and problem-solving approach.
  • Comfortable working in a team and eager to professionally grow.

Technical Skills (Choose at least 4)

  • Networking Basics

    • Understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, and common networking protocols.
  • Operating Systems

    • Knowledge of hardening Windows, Linux, or Unix environments.
  • Security Tools

    • Exposure to firewalls, antivirus, or IDS/IPS systems.
  • Scripting

    • Basic proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Vulnerability Assessment

    • Experience using tools like Nmap, Nessus, or OpenVAS.
  • Incident Response

    • Foundational knowledge in managing and responding to security incidents.
  • Security Frameworks

    • Awareness of MITRE ATT&CK or NIST frameworks.

Consultancy Skills

  • Ability to clearly explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Solution-oriented, analytical approach to security challenges.
  • Client relationship-building skills.
  • Experience documenting policies, procedures, or incident reports.
  • Excels in collaborative teamwork.
  • Highly motivated learner—thrives in fast-paced industries, keeps abreast of cybersecurity trends.
