Senior Cycle Technician / Service Advisor Location: Nationwide (Halfords & Tredz stores) Age & Pay:
- Age 21+: £13.11 per hour
- Under 21: £11.25 per hour
About the Role
Do you have a passion for all things bike? We’re looking for hands-on, enthusiastic individuals who love cycling, service, and customer experience to join our team as Cycle Technicians or Service Advisors. Whether you're a fellow cyclist, a practical troubleshooter, or simply someone committed to making customer experiences amazing, this role could be for you.
In this pivotal role, you’ll:
- Deliver market-leading cycle service and repair across kids’ bikes, adults’ cycles, premium models, performance bikes, and electric cycles.
- Sponsor the highest-quality standards of bike care, helping customers retain and elevate their beloved two-wheelers.
- Perform most service and repairs yourself, tailoring solutions for each customer.
- Mentor new team members, fostering skill development in a supportive training-driven culture.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform ** service and repair** on diverse cycles, from basic maintenance to complex repairs.
- Provide expert customer service, troubleshooting issues and advising clients on bike choices, upgrades, and care.
- Assist customers in finding and maintaining their dream bike, whether it's their first ride or the latest e-bike.
- Contribute to sales targets while offering honest, informed recommendations.
- Share expertise with colleagues, helping to train and onboard new team members.
- Work weekends and on a rotating rota, ensuring exceptional service availability.
- Adopt a strength-first approach, solving problems quickly and efficiently.

Requirements
To thrive, you’ll need:
- Technical curiosity and experience in service, repair, or assembly of bikes (from fixed gears to hybrids/e-bikes).
- Customer service aptitude, ideally from retail or cycle-focused environments (ancillary experience is welcome!).
- A mission to learn and share knowledge, mentoring peers and driving team development.
- Comfort with achieving targets while maintaining a friendly, consultative customer engagement.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and structured shifts—including Bank Holidays and weekends.
- Bonus: ✅ A Halfords or Tredz discount ( prohibitively good inside the business, even beyond guaranteed wages).
Training & Development We’ll arm you with the skills and knowledge needed:
- In-depth Halfords S&P cycles training pathways (from Schematronic to Final solution classes).
- Dedicated workshops and outdoor sessions—turn theory into supercharged service vehicle wins.
