About The Role
We are seeking an **enthusiastic, motivated, and dedicated Band 5 Mental Health Nurse with a specialist interest in working with young people with eating disorders to lead our Sapphire Day Service team at Ancora House.
The Opportunity
- Join a therapeutic outpatient service as part of the CHEDS (Cheshire and Merseyside Eating Disorder Service – Tier 4)
- Provide intensive support for young people in recovery through outpatient, day patient, and recuperative provision
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to deliver interventions, including:
- Physical health monitoring (MEED assessments)
- Care plan coordination
- Therapeutic group facilitation (with young people and families)
- Transition support between services (e.g., Sapphire Ward inpatient and day service)
- Practical meal support
- Safety planning & distraction techniques

Location: Sapphire Day Service (Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with service users
- Coordinate MDT collaborations and daily service operations
- Assist in young people’s transition between in/outpatient care
- Facilitate group interventions with mental health professionals
- Implement physical health monitoring through MEED assessments
- Support care plan development & safeguarding measures
- Provide practical, nutritional, and emotional support (e.g., meal aid, emotional first aid)
Key Areas of Work
- Sapphire Ward collaboration (potential cross-service work)
- External agency liaisons (e.g., schools, GPs, social work)
- MDT contributions (working with CSW, Band 5 & 6 nurses with diverse therapeutic backgrounds)
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
✅ Active/NMC registered nurse (Band 5 qualification or equivalent) ✅ Experience or specialist interest in eating disorders ✅ A strong understanding of mental health principles within youth support ✅ Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment ✅ Application of the Six C’s in practice:

Desirable Criteria
✔ Familiarity with child and adolescent mental health frameworks ✔ Experience in group therapy facilitation ✔ Knowledge of specialised young people’s eating disorder interventions

- A senior Band 5/6 nurse
- Community Support Worker (CSW)
- MDT back-up from allied professionals
- Wider Network Access: Support across the Sapphire Ward and eating disorder specialist teams
- Onboarding: Fixed start dates + Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme (up to 3 weeks training)
