Split Case Management Role: DAPO & Drive Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPO) + Perpetrator Case Management
About the Role
This split function role combines two critical functions across DAPO (Domestic Abuse Protection Orders) and Drive Case Management:
- DAPO (RISE): Supports perpetrators referred by the Domestic Abuse Protection Orders pilot in Croydon, Bromley, and Sutton, ensuring adherence to positive requirements (e.g., attendance on the Drive Behaviour Change Programme).
- Drive: Manages a Pan London Case Manager Service, collaborating with statutory/voluntary agencies across all 32 London boroughs to design individual intervention plans, assess risks, and promote behaviour change for high-risk perpetrators.
The role accepts referrals from both pathways, maintaining proactive engagement with clients (as identified under MARAC) and working closely with Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs).
Key Responsibilities
Interagency Collaboration
- Embed the Case Manager role into multi-agency responses to domestic abuse, challenging partners pro-socially and embedding best practice.
- Support professionals in responding align with Drive Project aims.
- Represent Drive at multi-agency meetings, evaluate service quality, and share feedback.
- Be the single point of contact for professionals involved in a case.
DAPO-Specific Duties
- Provide accurate, timely assessments for Court and Police per DAPO deadlines.
- consistently communicate with the DAPO Triage Team on suitable referrals and weekly update progress.
- Work at pace to engage service users and meet Court requirements.
Case Management
- Manage a high-risk caseload of perpetrators, using "Support (change) or Disrupt (continued offending)" principles.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments, develop individual support plans, and address complex barriers (e.g., addiction, housing).
- Link perpetrators to complementary services, including housing solutions and substance misuse support.
- Ensure continuous behaviour accountability, with clear service delivery to disrupt risk.
- Attend monthly case reviews, clinical supervision, and MARACs as guided by Drive Manual.
- Safeguard children/young people, addressing parenting needs and mitigating risks.
- Maintain child protection and safeguarding compliance.

Recording & Administration
- Keep accurate case files/records, compliant with Data Protection and GDPR.
- Monitor and assess service user progress via Drive’s electronic case management system.
- Complete weekly audit trails for all communications.
- Adhere to Drive’s information-sharing protocols.
Direct Work with Perpetrators
- Proactively engage perpetrators in behaviour change, using motivational interviewing and therapeutic skills.
- Build relationships, tackle barriers (e.g., substance misuse), and account for cohorting risks.
- Integrate strategies to disrupt future offending while meeting multiple needs.
- Use flexible, solution-focused approaches adapted to individual risk levels.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Direct experience with vulnerable individuals (e.g., safeguarding/multi-agency settings — Child Protection, MARAC, MAPPA).
- Fluency in legislative frameworks (Court signings, deadlines, data protection).
- Proven ability to manage safeguarding procedures, maintain timely wet records, and clear documentation.
- Strong interpersonal, conflict management, and crisis handling.
Desirable
- Work with domestic abuse perpetrators/victims (direct or associated experience).
- Experience with *Maryland Misuseum, substance/complex needs, mental health challenges.
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing, reflective practice, and pro-pascic working models.
- Confidence working with young adults (16–25) or culturally diverse populations.

Skills & Attributes
• Detailed knowledge of domestic abuse dynamics/safeguard distinctions • Legal framework awareness (child protection, MARAC protocols) • Evidence of inspective behaviour management strategies • In-depth understanding of IDVA work (risk/safety planning) • Ability to charitably advocate empowering solutions for partners/extended families • Exceptional communication (written/oral), including persuasive negotiation and conflict resolution • Confidence in autonomous decision-making, reflective practice, and multi-agency leadership • Reflective self-awareness of trauma/resilience and a belief in perpetrator accountability • Professional competency in defensible decision-making • Driving license + reliable transport (for cross-borough travel)
Soft Skills
• Commitment to continuous learning, team practice reviews, and representative organisational values • Respect for diversity and cultural sensitivity • Initiative in executing policy improvements/amendments to practice/systems
Competencies Required
- Degree/qualification: Relevant degree/vocational qualifications or equivalent experience (e.g., Social Work, Criminology, Psychology).
- Interpersonal confidence: subjected to trauma-informed conversations across system roles.
- Flexibility: Ordinary evenings/weekend availability as per operational need.
Continuing Professional Development
- Participation in training initiatives to meet organisnian standards.
- Collaborative learning driven by agency/multiasetnal feedback loops.
