Traffic Technology Data Administrator – Two Exciting Part-Time Opportunities

About the Role

We have two permanent part-time opportunities for Traffic Technology Data Administrators to join our Traffic Scotland Infrastructure Contract (TSIC) team in Cumbernauld.

  • Primarily on-site, with some flexibility for hybrid working
  • Operates on a shared rota between Monday and Sunday

TSIC partners with Traffic Scotland (on behalf of Transport Scotland) to maintain and upgrade all roadside monitoring and control infrastructure (since 2004), ensuring data-driven management of the asset lifecycle.

The Responsibilities

The Traffic Technology Data Administrator reports to the Asset Infrastructure Manager and plays a key operational role, including:

  • Daily traffic data analysis and validation
    • Ensuring accuracy in traffic-related datasets (e.g., sensor readings, road usage, congestion patterns).
  • Fault management operations
    • Managing the Fault Management system to:
      • Assign fault tickets to engineers.
      • Update and track fault responses and repairs.
  • Asset administration
    • Maintaining roadside asset and stock management systems, including:
      • Up-to-date data entry for system refreshes.
    • Administering systems to reflect asset conditions, schedules, and issues.
  • Work scheduling
    • Assisting the Maintenance Manager in programming maintenance schedules based on priorities, defect trends, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Data collation and stakeholder reporting
    • Extracting, synthesising, and visualising data from:
      • Internal systems (e.g., SAP, Power BI).
      • Client-restricted systems.
    • Formatting reports for:
      • Regular operational briefings.
      • Ad-hoc stakeholder requests.
    • Developing bespoke solutions, including:
      • Redesigning or enhancing existing dashboards/reports to incorporate new requirements.
      • Designing and implementing reports for new data initiatives.
  • Performance & condition analysis
    • Assisting the management team with:
      • Analysing performance metrics.
      • Identifying trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities in:
        • Asset longevity.
        • Traffic infrastructure functionality.
  • Compliance & documentation
    • Ensuring all data and operations meet:
      • Operational compliance requirements.
      • Contractually mandated data management procedures.
    • Supporting the creation and maintenance of written procedures (e.g., under the Contract Management System and Quality Plan).

What We’re Looking For

Essential Criteria

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (advanced modelling, pivot tables, data validation).
  • Attention to detail and analytical aptitude to spot discrepancies or inefficiencies.
  • Proactive problem-solving to support operational and business needs.
  • Exceptional organisation and administration to balance system updates, reporting deadlines, and stakeholder management.
  • Stakeholder management to:
    • Build fulfilling working relationships with engineering teams, senior management, and third parties.
    • Present data clearly (written and graphical) for decision-making.
  • Issue analysis and trend identification to continuously refine processes.
  • Data planning expertise, including:
    • Collaborating with teams to define report requirements.
    • Determining appropriate tools and methods for gathering and managing data.

Advantageous Experience

  • Previous roles in engineering data management (e.g., labour/asset reporting).
  • Familiarity with:
    • Asset management systems (SAP/other vendors).
    • Data visualisation platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
    • Experience managing data in IT-restricted environments (razor, cyber-secure).
