Senior Data and AI Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Data Engineer to join a fast-growing, venture-backed technology business operating at the forefront of AI, robotics, and intelligent automation.

Joining at a key stage of the company's growth, you'll play a central role in designing and developing scalable data infrastructure, building robust data pipelines, and helping shape the future of the organisation's data platform.

This is an opportunity to take ownership, influence technical direction, and work on complex engineering challenges within an innovative, collaborative environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and building modern, scalable data platforms
  • Developing reliable ETL/ELT pipelines and data models
  • Working closely with software, AI and engineering teams
  • Improving data quality, accessibility and governance
  • Applying AI-powered tools and automation to enhance engineering workflows
  • Helping define best practices and the long-term data strategy

What we're looking for

  • Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer
  • Excellent SQL and Python skills
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms
  • Strong understanding of data modelling and data architecture
  • Experience building scalable, production-grade data pipelines
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tooling and automation (including LLMs and modern AI-assisted development tools) to improve engineering workflows and solve real business problems
  • A proactive engineer who enjoys ownership and solving complex technical challenges

Desirable

  • Experience within AI, robotics, autonomous systems or other deep-tech environments
  • Previous experience working in a start-up or high-growth scale-up

Location: Oxfordshire (Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite)
