About The Company

The Independent Football Regulator (IFR) is a dedicated public body committed to safeguarding and promoting the sustainability of English football. Established with the primary goal of protecting the interests of fans and local communities, the IFR plays a vital role in ensuring the long-term health and resilience of football clubs across the country. The organization operates a comprehensive licensing regime, enforces corporate governance standards, and monitors financial stability within the football sector. By doing so, it aims to uphold the heritage and integrity of English football while fostering a fair and competitive environment. The IFR also possesses enforcement powers to prohibit clubs from participating in competitions that are deemed unfair or threaten the sport’s sustainability. Its initiatives are designed to promote transparency, accountability, and responsible management within the football industry, contributing to a vibrant and sustainable football ecosystem for future generations.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Prudential Data Analysis Manager to join our Technical Advisory and Specialist Supervision team. This pivotal role involves providing expert analytical support to supervisory functions, focusing on prudential data, licensing assessments, and financial risk diagnosis within football clubs. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and enhancing the data and analytics capabilities of the IFR, contributing to the establishment of a robust risk assessment framework. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will analyze prudential returns and various regulatory datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and outliers that could indicate financial vulnerabilities.

The role requires the development of analytical tools, risk models, and dashboards that enable supervisors to gain a clearer understanding of clubs' financial health. These insights will support evidence-based decision-making and prioritization of supervisory interventions. The position combines technical expertise with supervisory judgment, requiring a deep understanding of financial regulation, data analysis, and risk management. Additionally, as a Manager, you will oversee the development of junior analysts, fostering their professional growth and ensuring continuous improvement in analytical methodologies, data quality, and reporting standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
