About the Role

We’re seeking a talented Data Analyst to join our Data Team within the Legal Tech & Data department at Mills & Reeve. Reporting directly to the Data Team Leader, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the firm to translate business needs into meaningful insights. Using Microsoft technologies like SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Excel, you’ll develop innovative business intelligence solutions that empower data-driven decision-making.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping how Mills & Reeve harnesses data for strategic advantage—delivering impactful reporting and analytics that support teams throughout the firm.


The Person

We’re looking for a commercially aware professional with technical expertise across the Microsoft BI stack, including:

  • Proven experience in Power BI report development, with a strong understanding of relational databases, data modelling, and business intelligence best practices
  • Technical proficiency in:
    • SQL Server
    • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
    • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • Microsoft Fabric
    • Excel (advanced levels)
  • Legal sector knowledge and familiarity with financial and accounting reporting needs
  • Stellar communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling collaboration across all levels of the business
  • Problem-solving mentality—proactive, adaptable, and able to work independently, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Team player with innovativeness—committed to continuous learning, open to feedback, and thriving in a collaborative environment

Key Activities

  • Business needs analysis: Work with stakeholders to translate reporting and information requirements into robust data solutions
  • Data warehouse & BI development: Design, build, and maintain data warehouse and business intelligence systems, including Power BI dashboards, analytics models, and finance reporting
  • Technical transition: Support the firm’s migration from a SQL Data Warehouse to a Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse, helping shape our evolving data platform
  • Self-service reporting advocacy: Promote and enhance Power BI adoption across the business, expanding self-service analytics and data-driven decision-making
  • Continuous improvement: Actively invest in personal and professional growth, staying current with Microsoft technologies and advancing business knowledge
