About the Role
Join our Data Team at Mills & Reeve and make a real impact by transforming complex data into actionable business insights.
We're seeking a talented Data Analyst to join our Data Team within the wider Legal Tech & Data department. Reporting to the Data Team Leader, you will collaborate with colleagues across the firm to understand business needs and develop innovative business intelligence solutions using Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Excel.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape data-driven decision-making, delivering impactful reporting and analytics to support teams across Mills & Reeve.
The Person
We are looking for a Data Analyst with the following technical, commercial, and personal qualities:

Strong technical expertise across the Microsoft BI technology stack:
- SQL Server
- SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Microsoft Fabric
- Excel

Proven experience in Power BI report development, with a solid understanding of:
- Relational databases
- Data modelling
- Business intelligence best practices

Commercially aware, with:
- Strong financial and accounting knowledge
- Understanding of the legal sector and its reporting requirements

Superior communication and stakeholder management skills, including:
- Ability to build relationships and manage expectations with diverse audiences
- A proactive approach to solving challenges independently
- Clear prioritisation and time management to deliver high-quality outcomes on schedule

A collaborative problem-solver with:
- An innovative team player mindset
- A positive attitude
- Strong learning agility and commitment to continuous improvement

Key Responsibilities
Supporting Stakeholders & Business Needs
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and interpret reporting and information requirements.
- Translate business needs into effective data and business intelligence solutions.
Data Architecture & Development
- Design, develop, and maintain data warehouse and business intelligence (BI) solutions:
- Including Power BI reporting and analytics.
- Assist in the firm’s transition from a SQL Data Warehouse to Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse.
- Facilitate the shaping of an evolving data platform that supports decision-making.
Reporting & Self-Service Analytics

Create, maintain, and enhance reporting solutions such as:
- Dashboards
- Ad hoc data analysis
- Finance-focused data models

Promote and support Power BI adoption across the business, empowering teams to drive data-driven decisions through self-service reporting.
Professional Development
- Actively pursue personal and professional growth through:
- Training initiatives.
- On-the-job learning.
- Continuous refinement of technical expertise and legal sector knowledge.
