Data Analyst – Legal Tech & Data Team
Combining talented data professionals with our expert legal services, Mills & Reeve delivers exceptional guidance. As part of our Data Team, you’ll transform complex data into strategic business insights that drive data-driven decision-making across the firm.
About the Role
We’re looking for a talented Data Analyst within the Legal Tech & Data department. Reporting to the Data Team Leader, this role involves collaborating with colleagues nationwide to:
- Understand business needs and translate them into actionable data solutions
- Develop innovative business intelligence tools using Microsoft technologies, including:
- SQL Server
- Microsoft Fabric
- Power BI
- Excel
- Support handling reporting migration from a SQL Data Warehouse to a Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse
- Create customised reporting and visualisations for legal and financial stakeholders
You’ll refine processes, extend our BI capabilities, and help the firm evolve its data strategy.
Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Insights
- Support stakeholders in defining reporting and information needs
- Interpret business priorities into data models, dashboards, and analytics
- Build Microsoft Fabric and Power BI solutions for wider adoption
Technical Delivery & Maintenance
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, SSRS, and Excel models
- Create ad-hoc analyses—supporting both operational clarity and strategic foresight
- Maintain data governance and quality, including migration to a new data lakehouse architecture

Requirements
Core Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in the Microsoft BI stack: SQL Server (SSAS, SSRS), Power BI, and Excel
- Deep experience in data modeling, relational querying (T-SQL), and Power Query DAX
- Hands-on knowledge of Financial Accounting & Legal Sector Reporting needs
- Willingness to assess and implement Microsoft Fabric data lakehouse migration
Professional & Personal Qualities
- Commercially aware: Aligns data insights with business goals (e.g., P&L, legal advisories, client delivery reporting)
- Stakeholder management: Builds trust by translating technical findings into user-friendly outputs
- Problem-solving mindset: Prioritises key deliverables under tight deadlines
- Team collaboration: Values collective innovation, fostering a culture of shared success
A degree in data sciences, economics, business or related field would be considered a plus.
