Data Analyst – Empowering Business Insights at Mills & Reeve
About the Role
Join our Data Team at Mills & Reeve and transform complex data into actionable business insights. This key role will support data-driven decision-making across the firm, driving innovation using Microsoft technologies to deliver high-impact analytics and reporting.
Reporting to the Data Team Leader, you’ll collaborate with colleagues to align business needs with analytical solutions, leveraging SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Excel to create intuitive dashboards and insightful reports.
The Responsibilities
As a Data Analyst, you will:
- Support stakeholders by translating business requirements into effective reporting and data solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain data warehouse systems, Power BI reports, and business intelligence tools.
- Assist in migrating the firm’s infrastructure from a SQL Data Warehouse to a Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse.
- Develop and enhance automated reporting, including finance-focused analytics and custom dashboards.
- Promote self-service analytics by encouraging adoption of Power BI across the business.
- Continuously improve technical expertise while driving continuous learning opportunities.
The Person
We’re looking for a proactive, commercially aware professional with:
- Technical proficiency in:
- Microsoft BI stack (SQL Server, SQL Analysis Services (SSAS), SSRS, Microsoft Fabric)
- Power BI report development, relational databases, and data modelling
- Excel (advanced analytical and visualisation skills)
- Legal & financial acumen, including:
- Understanding of legal sector reporting needs and commercial business drivers
- Strong communication & stakeholder management skills to build trust, align expectations, and collaborate effectively.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- A collaborative and innovative approach, with a growth mindset and commitment to professional development.

The Activities
Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Translating business needs into tailored data solutions, ensuring insights are actionable and impactful.
- Developing and maintaining scalable data platforms, including:
- Power BI dashboards for executive and operational decision-making
- Ad-hoc analytics for ad-hoc business queries
- Supporting the firm’s digital transformation by transitioning legacy systems to Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse.
- Embedding a culture of data-driven decision-making across the business through training and enablement.
