We are looking for individuals who enjoy working collaboratively and are passionate about developing their data engineering skills while helping to deliver valuable data solutions.
In this role as a Data Analyst
You will work within the Data Analytics & Insight team, supporting the delivery of data analysis and business insight capabilities aligned to the Society’s data strategy.
This is a 12-month Fixed Term opportunity.

What you’ll be doing
As a Data Analyst, you will be part of a multi-skilled team working across a variety of data domains within Nationwide. Reporting to a Lead Data Engineer, you will collaborate with engineers, testers, data specialists, and product owners to help deliver reliable and scalable data solutions.
Day-to-day, you will support the development and maintenance of data pipelines, data models, and data processing solutions using modern data technologies and engineering practices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the design, development, testing, and deployment of data solutions
- Developing and maintaining data pipelines and data processing workflows
- Assisting with data modelling and data integration activities

To ensure solutions are delivered consistently and effectively, you will follow engineering standards, best practices, and governance requirements, but you also have the opportunity to develop your solution focussed mindset working closely with team members to resolve issues and improve platform reliability.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to build experience in data engineering, cloud platforms, automation, and DevOps practices while working alongside experienced engineers.
About you
We have high expectations of our colleagues, and you'll need to demonstrate how you meet the following:
- You will be in your 2nd or 3rd year of University studying towards a Computer Science or technology based degree.
- Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to problem solve and find the best solutions
- Experience working with data platforms such as Databricks
- Good SQL and data analysis skills
- An understanding of data engineering concepts and software development practices
- A real curiosity about data and latest tools, with a pro-active attitude to development and learning new technologies and techniques
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
