Role Summary

Reporting to the Service Manager (Data Services), the Data Analyst (Fixed Term Contract) will play a key role in delivering data quality improvement initiatives across the organisation.

The role is responsible for conducting detailed analysis of address data and related datasets to assess data quality, identify trends and uncover opportunities for improvement. Through detailed data analysis and insight generation, the Data Analyst will support the identification and prioritisation of data cleansing activities, helping to improve the accuracy, consistency and integrity of address data.

Working closely with business stakeholders and the wider project team, the role will contribute to the development of recommendations, controls and validation frameworks that strengthen data management practices. The Data Analyst will translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights, enabling informed decision-making and supporting the successful delivery of project objectives and long-term data quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse large and complex datasets to identify data quality issues, trends, anomalies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance reports, dashboards and analytical outputs to support project delivery and informed decision-making.
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand existing data processes and identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of data quality issues and recommend practical, sustainable solutions to improve data accuracy and integrity.
  • Support the identification, prioritisation and execution of data cleansing and remediation activities.
  • Present analysis, insights and recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with project teams to support process reviews, business change initiatives and implementation activities.
  • Produce clear and comprehensive documentation of analytical methodologies, findings, assumptions and recommendations.
  • Define and implement data quality metrics, KPIs and monitoring frameworks to measure and track improvements over time.
  • Ensure all analytical outputs comply with data governance standards, security requirements and relevant regulatory obligations.
  • Review and strengthen data processes, controls and validation mechanisms to support the ongoing quality and integrity of organisational data.

Specialist/Technical Expertise

Essential

  • Experience analysing and interpreting large datasets to identify data quality issues, trends, anomalies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes and recommend effective solutions.
  • Experience using SQL to query, validate and analyse data from multiple sources.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, manipulation and reporting.
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards and data visualisations using tools such as Power BI.
  • Knowledge of data quality principles, including data validation, cleansing, reconciliation and data integrity management.
  • Experience establishing and monitoring data quality measures, KPIs and performance indicators.
  • Ability to translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data security and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with relational databases and structured data environments.
  • Ability to document analytical methodologies, findings, assumptions and recommendations to a high standard.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working collaboratively across business and technical teams to deliver data improvement initiatives.
  • Experience supporting process reviews and identifying opportunities to improve data quality, operational efficiency and data management practices.
  • Gather and document business requirements relating to data quality, reporting and analytical needs.
  • Attention to detail with a methodical approach to analysing and validating data.
