Job Title: Data Analyst (Junior / Graduate)

Department: IT

Reports to: Data and Insight Manager

Location: Newcastle

Type: Full Time, Hybrid

Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Junior Data Analyst to join our team, ideal for a graduate or early-career candidate looking to build a career in data and analytics. The role holder will support the wider Data and Insight team by extracting and checking data and building straightforward Power BI reports and components of reports under the guidance of senior colleagues. This is a supportive, learning-focused role with clear opportunities for progression as skills and experience develop; full training and mentoring will be provided by senior analysts within the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve and analyse data from SQL Server databases using SQL queries, under guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Assist with data validation and cleaning processes to help maintain the accuracy and integrity of source data.
  • Support the design and build of Power BI reports and dashboards, working from clear requirements set by senior team members or stakeholders.
  • Help maintain existing dashboards and reports, applying agreed design and usability standards.
  • Assist in gathering stakeholder requirements for new reporting requests, escalating more complex or ambiguous requirements to a senior analyst.
  • Carry out routine and ad-hoc data extracts and reporting requests for business users.
  • Perform basic quantitative analysis (e.g. summarising trends, producing simple comparisons) to support senior analysts' work.
  • Maintain awareness of day-to-day pipeline and report health, escalating any issues to senior colleagues or the data engineer.
  • Help create and maintain documentation such as report catalogues, data dictionaries and basic requirements notes.
  • Take part in training and development activities to build skills in SQL, Power BI, and (over time) Microsoft Fabric.
  • Plan and prioritise own workload day-to-day, seeking support from senior colleagues on more complex or time-sensitive tasks.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
