Data Analyst (Power BI)

Job Title: Data Analyst (Power BI) Competitive Salary £45,000 -£55,000 (DOE) per annum Annual bonus scheme -on-target bonus opportunity of 7.5%. 27 days holiday + bank holidays (with holiday buy and flexible bank holidays) Remote working with occasional visits to the office

As the Data Analyst, you will turn complex data into clear, meaningful insight that helps drive the direction of the business. Working closely with the Senior Data Engineer, Platform team and stakeholders across the organisation, you will design and deliver high quality dashboards, reports and analytical solutions that bring data to life. Using Power BI, Excel and an Azure based data platform, you will uncover trends, highlight opportunities and enable smarter decision making at every level. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys data storytelling and visualisation and wants to build deeper expertise within the Microsoft analytics ecosystem. You will play an important part in strengthening a data driven culture, helping teams understand and trust the data they use, while continuously improving how insight is delivered across the business.

Key Responsibilities: Data & Reporting Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI Perform data analysis using Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA) to support business reporting needs. Write and optimise SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyse data from Azure SQL Database and other Azure data sources. Reporting & Visualisation Develop and maintain Power BI semantic models (datasets), ensuring accurate relationships, measures, and calculated columns using DAX. Create standardised reporting templates and self-service analytics solutions for business stakeholders. Translate complex data into clear, visually compelling narratives that support strategic decision-making. Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) in Power BI to ensure appropriate data access across business units. Gather and refine reporting requirements from stakeholders, iterating on dashboard designs to ensure outputs meet business needs. Data Analysis & Insight Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies across business datasets Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and analytical requirements that align with business objectives Data Governance & Quality Validate data accuracy and consistency across reports and dashboards, flagging discrepancies to the Data Engineering team. Document data definitions, report logic, and analytical methodologies to support governance and knowledge sharing. Implement access controls and security models in line with data governance policies, ensuring auditability, documentation and regulatory compliance (GDPR) Continuous Improvement & Collaboration Monitor Power BI workspace performance, dataset refresh schedules, and report usage metrics Work with the Platform Team to identify data quality issues, propose improvements to upstream pipelines, and refine data models Stay current with new features in Power BI, Excel, and the broader Microsoft analytics stack to continually improve reporting capabilities.

Your Expertise: 2–4 years of experience in a data analyst, business analyst, or similar analytical role Experience working with Microsoft Power BI and Excel in a professional environment Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300), Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900), Microsoft Certified: Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate (DP-500), or Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600) advantageous Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, Power Query (M), and report/dashboard design Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Power Query, Power Pivot, and complex formulas Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis Experience working with Azure data services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, or Azure Synapse Analytics Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and present findings to non-technical audiences

Desirable exp Experience with Python or R for data analysis and automation. Familiarity with Azure Data Factory and understanding of ETL/ELT concepts. Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and their practical application. Exposure to Azure DevOps for version control and collaborative development of Power BI reports. Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, data pipelines, and Fabric-integrated notebooks. Git-based version control and collaborative development practices with CI/CD concepts for analytic artefacts.
