Data Analyst (Freelance, Outside IR35, 1 month initial) — Fashion Retail
Location: London (Hybrid, mainly remote)
We're supporting a PE-backed fashion retail client on a freelance basis to help bring clarity to their inventory data.
The client's inventory data currently sits across around ten different spreadsheets with no single agreed source of truth. We're looking for a sharp, personable Data Analyst to get under the hood, work directly with the client's team, and build a clean, centralised baseline of their current inventory position.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you'll be doing:
- Working closely with client stakeholders to identify the source of truth across multiple spreadsheets
- Asking the right questions to untangle inconsistent, messy data
- Using Excel (and ideally AI tools) to build a clear, centralised view of inventory status
- Bringing structure and clarity — this is not a data engineering or system-building role
What we're looking for:
- Strong Excel skills - non-negotiable
- Comfortable using AI tools to speed up data wrangling
- Confident, personable, and comfortable working with non-technical, client-side stakeholders
- Patient, low-ego, and happy to dig through messy spreadsheets to get to the answer
- Fashion retail experience is a bonus, not a must
