Data Analytics Engineer | Hybrid | Basingstoke
We're working with a growing financial services business looking to bring in a Data Analytics Engineer to help build out their data platform from the ground up.
You'll own the end-to-end lifecycle of data products — ingestion, modelling, and presentation — working closely with stakeholders across the business to turn raw data into something they can actually use and act on.
Responsibilities
- Designing and building performant data ingestion pipelines using Apache Spark, ideally within Azure Databricks
- Contributing to the platform's data modelling and architecture
- Building dashboards and semantic models, and presenting these directly to stakeholders
- Working across the full pipeline from source systems to target repositories, with a strong focus on data quality
- Collaborating with Data Scientists to help productionise ML pipelines
- Operating within an Agile/DevOps environment

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
