EY’s Global Tax Centre of Excellence – Data & AI team play a prominent role in leading client transformation initiatives leveraging Data & AI as core capabilities. The Centre of Excellence (CoE) aims to architect reusable patterns and process blueprints to enable scalability across all EY Tax technology teams in key markets.

This role offers an opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the successful transformation of EY’s tax offerings and those of its clients.

Role Purpose

The Data & AI Specialist will support the Data & AI Leader of Agentic Tax Processes & Platforms in designing, architecting, and building agentic tax workflows, underpinned by AI-ready data products and robust data engineering.

This position sits at the intersection of:

  • Tax domain understanding
  • Data architecture and engineering
  • Applied AI and agent orchestration

The role ensures that agents are fed with trusted, timely, well-structured data and deployed in ways that scale across clients and platforms.


Key Responsibilities

Agentic Workflow & AI Design

  • Design agentic workflows for tax processes, including:
    • Task-level agent responsibilities
    • Agent-to-agent communication patterns
    • Human-in-the-loop and escalation models
    • Feedback loops, agent monitoring, and performance evaluations
  • Define reusable agent blueprints aligned with Lean-derived task definitions
  • Apply leading-edge agentic design and build methodologies, such as:
    • Codex, Factory AI, and GitHub Copilot

Data Architecture & AI-Ready Data Products

  • Build AI-ready data marts that:
    • Expose tax data at the optimal granularity (grain)
    • Maintain data lineage and quality controls
    • Support deterministic and probabilistic reasoning
  • Enable data ingestion and transformation via:
    • ERP systems
    • Tax platforms
    • Semi-structured documents
    • External data sources

Agent Governance & Security

  • Design and embed governance and security measures for agents and workflows, including:
    • Compatibility and integration with client governance models and technology (e.g., Microsoft 365 Agent)
    • Real-time control and risk monitoring

Required Experience & Background

  • 6+ years' experience in:
    • Data architecture
    • Data engineering
    • Analytics (including designing and building SQL databases)
  • Advantageous certifications in AI, machine learning, cloud computing, or data engineering
  • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and AI tools, including:
    • Azure ML
    • Databricks
    • MLflow
    • LangChain
    • LangGraph
  • Strong foundation in:
    • Data modelling
    • Data governance and quality management
    • Large-scale data integration
  • Production-level experience in applying AI/ML or advanced analytics
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (examples):
    • C++
    • Java
    • Python
    • Key ML libraries:
      • PyTorch
      • PySpark
      • scikit-learn
      • Hugging Face Transformers
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for continuous learning in technology

Desirable Experience

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science (or related fields) or equivalent work experience
  • Previous experience in Tax Technology or Finance platforms
  • Exposure to agentic AI, orchestration, or workflow-driven automation
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern AI stacks

Success Measures

The role aims to achieve:

  • High-quality and reusable AI-ready data marts
  • Stable and scalable agent deployments
  • Fast transition from Lean design to operational agents
  • Reusable assets across clients and service lines
