The Opportunity
EY’s Global Tax Centre of Excellence (CoE) Data & AI team plays a prominent role in leading client transformation initiatives that leverage Data & AI as core capabilities. The CoE seeks to architect reusable patterns and process blueprints to bootstrap scalability across all the EY Tax technology teams in all key markets.
You will have the existing opportunity to stay on the leading edge of technology development and contribute to the successful transformation of EY’s Tax offerings and its clients.
Role Purpose
This Data & AI Specialist role is responsible for supporting the Data & AI Leader of Agentic Tax Processes & Platforms in the design, architecting, and implementation of agentic tax workflows, underpinned by AI-ready data products and robust data engineering.
The role sits at the intersection of:
- Tax domain understanding
- Data architecture and engineering
- Applied AI and agent orchestration
It ensures that agents are fed with trusted, timely, well-structured data and are deployed in a way that scales across clients and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Agentic Workflow & AI Design
- Design agentic workflows for tax processes, including:
- Task-level agent responsibilities
- Agent-to-agent communication patterns
- Human-in-the-loop and escalation models
- Feedback loops and agent performance monitoring and evaluations
- Define reusable agent blueprints aligned to Lean-derived task definitions
- Apply leading-edge agentic-driven design and build methodologies (e.g., Codex, Factory AI, GitHub Copilot)

Data Architecture & AI-Ready Data Products
- Build AI-ready data marts that:
- Expose tax data at the right grain
- Maintain lineage and quality controls
- Support deterministic and probabilistic reasoning
- Build data ingestion and transformation from:
- ERP systems
- Tax platforms
- Semi-structured documents
- External data sources
Agent Governance & Security
- Develop embedded agent and workflow governance and security, including:
- Ensuring compatibility and integration with client governance models and technology (e.g., Microsoft Agent 365)
- Designing and embedding real-time controls and risk monitoring
Required Experience & Background
- 6+ years’ experience across data architecture, data engineering, and analytics, including:
- Building SQL databases
- Database design and data modelling
- Advanced certifications in AI, machine learning, cloud computing, or data engineering are highly advantageous
- Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and AI tooling, such as:
- Azure ML
- Databricks
- MLflow
- LangChain
- LangGraph
- Strong grounding in:
- Data modelling
- Data governance and quality
- Large-scale data integration
- Experience with AI/ML or advanced analytics in production environments
- Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as C++, Java, or Python and key ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, PySpark, scikit-learn, Hugging Face Transformers)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and an unsatiable desire to learn to keep up with technology developments
- Strong critical thinking and analytical mindset for breaking down abstract and complex concepts into clear insights, requirements, and solutions

Desirable Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience (higher qualifications preferred).
- Prior work in Tax Technology or Finance platforms
- Agentic AI concepts, orchestration, or workflow-driven automation experience
- Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern AI stacks
Success Measures
- Quality and reusability of AI-ready data marts
- Stability and scalability of agent deployments
- Speed from Lean design to working agent
- Reuse of assets across clients and services lines
