Data Architect
Senior Data Architect
Location: London
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with a minimum of 10 years of expertise in data architecture, engineering, and large-scale data platform design. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives at both architectural and engineering levels, driving solution design while actively contributing to implementation and delivery.
Working Model – Hybrid
Your work will involve a blend of:
- On-site visits to company offices and client locations
- Remote work from home (note: not 100% remote)*
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver data architecture solutions for the Bank’s EDL (Enterprise Data Lake) and ODS (Operational Data Store) platforms on Cloudera in AWS, taking technical ownership.
- Create end-to-end data lake and distributed data solutions aligned with business needs, ensuring integration within broader programme deliverables.
- Contribute to solution planning, influencing factory estimation, and identifying technical risks, assumptions, and areas needing remediation.
- Review and validate design artefacts produced by other data solution architects.
- Establish and promote best practices in large-scale data environments and remediation priorities covering both technology and process.
- Maintain design documentation (artefacts) independently or as part of a collaborative team.
- Collaborate with business and programmes to refine data requirements.
- Present design recommendations to the Bank’s Architecture Review Board as needed.
- Engage with stakeholders across the Group Data Office and broader business units.
- Provide expert support to non-factory solution architects on change initiatives.
- Ensure solutions align with the strategic architecture direction.
- Review technical designs to confirm alignment with overarching architecture.
- Break down complex solutions into actionable sprint elements to support iterative delivery.
- Support engineering functions in the factory (e.g., build, test, CI/CD).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
