Data Architect

Data Architect / Engineer – Glasgow – Full-Time/Contract (12 Months)

This key role supports our divisional leadership by developing a sophisticated, scalable and explainable decision model to enhance workforce planning and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will merge expertise in data science, analytics, and systems thinking with an ability to deliver high-impact outputs visible at the executive level, ultimately partnering across diverse business functions.

Responsibilities

Design & Architecture

  • Lead the end-to-end design of a decision support model from conception to deployment.
  • Define a framework balancing predictive accuracy, interoperability, and usability for scalability.

Data Integration & Engineering

  • Collaborate with teams to source, cleanse, and structure required datasets.
  • Ensure data readiness for downstream modeling.

Model Development

  • Apply statistical, machine learning, or optimization techniques to build a robust system.
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis and develop "what-if" forecasting tools for stakeholders.

Business Analysis

  • Translate business requirements into analytical and technical solutions.
  • Align the model with strategic goals and operational needs.

Data Visualisation & Communication

  • Create interactive dashboards, reports, or visualisations to communicate model outputs.
  • Tailor insights for executive-level stakeholders.

Governance & Monitoring

  • Ensure compliance with governance policies, including risk management, validation, and versioning.
  • Establish KPIs to track model performance and business impact.
  • Implement ongoing recalibration and performance tracking.

Requirements

Qualifications

✔ Minimum 5 years of experience in data science, analytics, operational research, or related fields. ✔ Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science).


Key Skills (Desired)

✅ Data Modelling & Scaling – Build methodologies from statistical techniques to automation. ✅ Industry Expertise – Experience across banking, insurance, or consulting with a focus on data analytics & insights. ✅ Stakeholder Engagement – Translate complex analytical findings into actionable business insights. ✅ Project Management – Lead end-to-end analytics projects, analysing customer journeys and driving strategy through data. ✅ Technical Proficiency

  • SQL, Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery), Adobe Analytics
  • Tableau, Power BI (visualisation)
  • Python (analysis & automation)
  • SQL, SAS (reporters & automation), Alteryx (data prep & workflows) ✅ Commercial Analytics – Derive impact on revenue, automate reporting, and improve operational efficiency. ✅ Data Quality & Governance – Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and bridge data gaps. ✅ Project Exposure – Experience in:
  • Profiling & trend analysis
  • Complex dataset analysis (A/B testing, impact analysis for commercial outcomes)
  • Identifying and remediating data issues
