Senior Data Architect (6-Month Contract – Inside IR35)
Job Overview
- Location: Hybrid in NW London
- Contract Type: 6-month contract, inside IR35
- Industry: Work with a well-known national governing body undergoing a significant data transformation
The successful candidate will define and own the solution data architecture, ensuring robust data flows across reporting and case management systems. This role focuses on real-time and event-driven architectures, with full governance ownership through to the Board level.

- Define As-Is and To-Be solution data architectures for core operational and reporting systems
- Design real-time and event-driven integration patterns for scalable data flows

Canonical Data Governance
- Own and maintain the canonical data model across all integrations
- Produce Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models in ERWin (or equivalent tools)
Stakeholder Sign-off & Decision Making
- Present and secure sign-off through governance forums up to Architecture Control Board (ACB) level
- Author Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), comparing on-premise vs. SaaS approaches
Requirements & Experience
Core Technical Skills
- Proven experience as a Data Architect or Senior Data Architect in complex, multi-system environments
- Strong background in:
- Real-time and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Service Bus, CDC)
- Canonical data modelling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical Data Models)
- ERWin or equivalent enterprise data modelling tools
- Azure/Microsoft stack (e.g., Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL)

Governance & Decision-Making
- Experience in architecture governance frameworks (e.g., ACB, TOGAF, Design Authority)
- Ability to produce clear, board-ready documentation and ADRs
